Part of running a successful national park is keeping groundwater clean to ensure continued protection of wildlife and natural resources. In order to treat the wastewater that flows from a vocational training facility located on Mammoth Cave National Park grounds, National Park Service officials worked with XR Geomembrane professionals to install two wastewater stabilization ponds; a primary pond as well as a polishing pond. Due to the durability of the XR-5 geomembrane, the original liners have withstood Kentucky’s extreme temperature swings and various chemical and waste contaminants for over 30 years.
